  • Geyser is an honorable mention proposal for the Water Pavilion competition organized by Arquine in 2018.

A fountain is an element in the city that relates its inhabitants to water. Historically, the fountain arose as an infrastructure to transport and supply water in public spaces. As technology made it possible to deliver water directly to homes, fountains began to play an ornamental and iconic role in the cities. With this transformation in their function came a change in their design. In the 16th century, it turned into a sculptural element, and in the 20th century, as a performance piece. Today, our relationship with water in Mexico City is limited to the opening and closing of the tap.

This proposal for the water pavilion reinserts the fountain as an urban element to commemorate and highlight the deficiencies of the water supply system of Mexico City. A single water jet rising twenty meters high signifies an unsustainable and inefficient system.
