  • This proposal for the intervention of Obispo Bustamante street consists of a raised plaza that extends from side to side, blocking all traffic and redirecting it, creating a new space for a pause within the street that transforms the experience of the immediate urban context. Raising the road one meter above ground level provides a unique visual perspective of the surroundings, accentuates the connection between the courtyard and the street, and creates a stage and a seating area where the city becomes scenery.

This project aims to temporarily transform the site to provide an opportunity for social interaction and spatial appropriation. Introducing a foreign object will increase the collective awareness of this forgotten and underused moment in the city and offer a new space for public events, gatherings, and seating. Through these activities, we propose a way to awaken this urban space and make it memorable again.

The proposed platform also works as a tool to read the context, highlighting the relationship between existing objects on the site. In their interaction with this red box, the distance between trees and lampposts, the misalignment of the curbs, and the location of the door to the courtyard, these contextual specificities become relevant. The intervention acts as a virtual plan that accurately traces the existing urban situation, establishing unexpected uses for these elements. The tree becomes a backrest, the street lamp stage lighting, and the neighboring buildings the backdrop.
