This proposal for a pedestrian bridge over the Fuxi River in Moganshanzhen, China, takes the traditional Chinese garden typology of the zigzag bridge and reinterprets it into a three-dimensional form.
The folding concrete slab hovers low over the water, allowing the bridge to flood and disappear during the monsoon season and encouraging users to interact with the water more directly throughout the seasons.
The bridge is proposed to be built entirely off-site using a voided biaxial reinforced concrete slab technique for structural and material efficiency.
